Renewable Energy Case Study
Renewable Energy recruitment of 3 wind energy specialists to a large consultancy firm in London
In late August 2008 we received an enquiry from the Recruitment Manager of a London based consultancy. The company was seeking to hire three Project Managers possessing experience from within the wind energy sector. The consultancy had advertised a month earlier for the role and gave the vacancy details to their current PSL as they handled all the recruitment from HR to Engineers.
The difference this time was that this had been the first time they had looked to fill a vacancy of this nature in a sector totally alien to them. The current suppliers were delivering candidates though none of them seemed to fit the bill in terms of the level of renewable energy experience the candidates had. After nine interviews the hiring manager picked up the phone to Ripe4 having heard of their reputation in the renewable energy marketplace.
He explained his frustrations at the amount of time spent trying to find the right candidates and the costs to his business. After taking the time to listen to the job specification, we agreed to get him 3 interview calibre candidates within the first week. Through the implementation of the Ripe4 recruitment innovation model we were able to deliver 5 candidates that the client considered to be of interview calibre.
Initially we had a pool of 16 candidates, through our extensive interviews, testing and pre-qualification we filtered this down to five. At the end of the week we called the recruitment manager as pre- arranged to discuss all the candidates we had sent at great length, highlighting not only technical ability but also the soft skills of the candidates, this way he knew exactly who he was booking in for interview. After our consultation and owing to time constraints he decided to go ahead and interview 4 of the candidates we had sent. We had the candidates booked in for interview the following week all on the same day to make it easier for the Hiring Manager.
The interviews complete, the Hiring Manager was astounded by the quality and professionalism of the candidates, and also the way in which the candidates matched both the technical job specification and how they seemed a seamless match toward the culture of the company. After a short consultation period he offered 3 of them jobs and 1 on a 6 month contract as a Business Development Manager.
Our unique ripe4 innovation model demonstrated a quality of service that left the client coming back to us again 3 months later with further hires and first tier supplier status for Ripe4.
Six months on Ripe4 are the sole supplier of the consultancies renewable and environmental vacancies and we are enjoying a successful recruitment partnership.
